Scenario: I wonder what it would be like to be chased by a bull? Or any wild animal, really. Even if it just a bird loose in the house, that can add drama to the dialogue you've already written. Let loose the animals from their cages.

Scenario: Your character is crying over spilled milk, metaphorically. Well, they could cry over spilled milk literally though it might be a challenge to make that conflict sympathetic. Go with the metaphor.
